Why research?

Not enough is known about malignant brain tumours, who is affected or why they occur.

More men under 45 and women under 35 die from a brain tumour than any other cancer.

The incidence of brain tumours has increased by 30-40% in the past 30 years; that’s 2% per year 20% of all cancers now spread to the brain.

Brain tumour research receives just over half a percent (0.7%) of cancer research spending in the UK.

Brain Tumour Research Campaign combines the skills of clinicians, academics and pathologists on both a local and global platform. Their laboratory is based at Charing Cross Hospital which is regarded as being an international centre of excellence for neuro-oncology.

Goals & Objectives

BTRC objective is to fund a multi-tiered research project to improve our understanding of brain tumour biology and improve current treatment strategies.

To be able to do this, they are providing funding for the BTRC research team, laboratory and equipment and are promoting neurological and medical research.

BTRC are lobbying with other brain tumour research charities to create awareness in public and private sectors. Research results are shared with other brain tumour research groups both in the UK and internationally.

Day 13 - Kidderminster to Stroud

What did Jordan forget, absolutely nothing, he is a reformed character. However, Julius forgot his bike lock. It is in the post to you Julius.
Major Hooper our newest recruit joined us on our voyage towards the west country. It goes without saying melly and her direction pointing umbrella were greatly missed today with Ros and Tim over shooting the roundabout at some pace heading back towards Telford - what a keen new recruit!
Jordan had a whoops-a-daisy today with his bike landing in the grass staining his 1-1tee shirt.
The day ended in usual style but little did they know it most of the cyclists had 6 further miles to travel to the premier inn, with a travel lodge only a mile from the finish!!! On reaching the premier inn mr and mrs wiggins had yet to discover they in fact were booked in to a different premier inn 10 minutes away - thanks to Ed for the lift! Taxis all round for the am meet the following day.
Heading out now for the leaving do of Philip Conway to celebrate his last night on tour before returning back to chopping coleslaw in Ireland.
